NOVA Scheduled Outage (3 HOURS): SharePoint Upgrade - Fri, 12/1, 7p - 10p

On Friday, December 1, 2017 between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM, Enterprise Application Services (EAS) engineers will be upgrading NOVA’s current version of SharePoint from 2010 to SharePoint 2016.

As a result of this system maintenance, SharePoint will be unavailable during this 3-hour outage window.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THE SHAREPOINT UPGRADE
Users should expect to see cosmetic differences in the newly upgraded SharePoint environment.  Stored files, bookmarks and overall functionality will not be affected.  For best results continue to use Internet Explorer (PC) and Safari (MAC).

Users will continue to use the same credentials (NVCC LAN User Name and Password) to access SharePoint as before.  Generally, users should not have to login into SharePoint if on campus and using Internet Explorer.  Any issues with logging into SharePoint should be addressed to the IT Help Desk.  Be sure to send your email to ithelpdesk@nvcc.edu with the subject line “SharePoint Login Issue”.

REMOTE ACCESS
Users will continue to need to use Cisco AnyConnect if working on SharePoint remotely.

TRAINING
SharePoint Training will not be needed for this upgrade.  Introductory SharePoint Training classes will be held January 23, 2018 and March 13, 2018 at 10 am in Pender 4.  Sign up here to register.

IT HELP DESK
If you are having a SharePoint related issue, please contact the IT HELP Desk by sending an email to ithelpdesk@nvcc.edu and placing “SharePoint Issue” in the subject line.  A ticket will be created and routed to the SharePoint Administrator.  The IT Help Desk can also be reached by calling 703-426-4141.
