Follow these instructions to change your password, reset your password, or unlock your password.
 
2. On the NOVA Self-Service Password Management page, click Edit My Profile.
 
 
3. Enter your NVCC LAN User Name and Password, and click Logon.
 
4. Choose a question from the two drop down menus, and enter your answers. Create a third question of your own, and enter your answer (you should have a total of three answered questions). If you need to set new questions and answers in the future, revisit this page (Edit My Profile). Note: your previous questions will not show answers; you will have to enter new answers.
 
5. When you are done, click Submit.
 
 

Change my Password
 
Note: This feature is available 24 hours after your last password change.
If you know your current password, use the following steps to change your password.
  1. Go to https://pwreset.nvcc.edu.
  2. On the NOVA Self-Service Password Management page, click Change my Password
 
  1. Enter your NVCC User Name and current Password, and click Logon.
        
 
  1. The window below allows you to either enter a new password of your choice, or have the system generate a random password for you.
 
If entering your own password, select Enter Password as the Mode in the left pane. Enter the new password into the Password and Confirm fields, and click Submit. Note: The password must be at least 8 characters long, including at least one capital letter, one lower case letter, and one number. It cannot have been recently used. 
 
 
 
If you would like the system to generate a password for you, select Generate as the Mode in the left pane. Click the Generate icon to view the new password. Please be sure to save your new password in a safe place. Click Submit. 
 
 
  1. If the Password change was successful, you will receive a confirmation message. If the password change was not successful, the following message displays. Click OK to return to the previous window.
        
  1.  After your password has been successfully changed, please wait 15 minutes before logging in with your new password.

 
Reset my Password  
 
If you do not know your password, use the following steps to reset your password.
  1. Go to https://pwreset.nvcc.edu.
  1. On the NOVA Self-Service Password Management page, click Reset my Password.
        
  1. Enter your NVCC User Name and click Logon
 
 
  1. You will be prompted to the three security questions you previously set up. Click Submit after entering each answer.
 
 
  1. If your answer does not match the answer you previously set up, an invalid message will appear, giving you a chance to try again.
 
 
  1. If you miss two answers, the following message appears, and you will be locked out of the process. Wait several minutes before trying again, or call the IT Help Desk for assistance. 
 
  1. If you answer all three questions correctly, the password reset screen appears.
 
 
  1. The window below allows you to either enter a new password of your choice, or have the system generate a random password for you.

Unlock my Password  
 
If you know your password, use these steps to unlock your password.
  1. Go to https://pwreset.nvcc.edu.
  2. On the NOVA Self-Service Password Management page, click Unlock my Account.
        
 
        3. Enter your User Name and click Logon.
 
        
 
  1. Answer the Security Questions. Click Submit after each question.
 
 
  1. Click Unlock Account.
 
 
  1. If no restrictions exist, a message stating the account has been unlocked will display.  Click OK.
        
 
  1. If your account was not locked, you will see the following message.  Click OK.
        
 
 
Notes:
  • If your account is disabled because of an unsatisfied requirement, such as unfinished GLS Training, or for a security reason, you will see the following message when logging in:
The referenced account is currently locked out and may not be logged on to.
  • You cannot unlock the account using this self-service tool.  If you have satisfied the requirement, call the IT Help Desk (703) 426-4141.  They will confirm that the requirement is satisfied and open a ticket to unlock the account.  You will be notified when it has been unlocked.
