Connecting to NVCC Wireless Using CLI

Reference Ticket:  00D-1CB89318-010E

Problem:  User was unable to connect to NVCC Wireless networks, neither NOVAWifi nor Directory, on his Debian Jessie machine.

Solution:  A config file needs to be created for use with the wpa_supplicant utility. User touched a file he called nvcc.conf stored in /etc/wpa_supplicant.

Contents of example /etc/wpa_supplicant/nvcc.conf file
> network={
> ssid="Directory"
> scan_ssid=1
> key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
> eap=PEAP
> identity=<username>
> password=<password>
> }

User also needed to make changes to /etc/network/interfaces for the previous wireless config to work.

iface wlan0 inet dhcp
> # wireless-essid home
> # wireless-key 1234567890
> wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant/nvcc.conf

Then bring down and back up wireless interface using:
# ifdown
# ifup

This method should only be used for command line configuration. If using Network Manager or other applet this may not work.
