1. What should I do if I cannot find my Student ID using the search page?
This may happen if:
- You have never registered with the College.
- You have not taken classes with NOVA for the last three years.
- You have not been 'Term Activated' for the upcoming semester by the Admissions and Records Office.
- You recently signed up with the College, but your data is still being processed.
Contact Student Services Center to have them flag you in our system as an 'active' student.
If you have done this and still cannot find your Student ID, contact the IT Help Desk and we will be glad to assist you.

5. What should I do if I find multiple Student ID's under my name?
Usually
when you have more than one Student ID it may mean that you may have
taken courses at another College. The College code for NOVA is NV280.
You can click the Find My ID button to be sure that your NOVA Student ID is available.
If you still cannot log on using the Student ID you found, you should contact the IT Help Desk and we will be glad to assist you.

7. Why are courses within the same discipline listed differently, some with three or four letters? (MTH, Math)
Course
identification letters are dependent on when the course was offered
(i.e. four letters for Quarter Credit) or by whom (i.e. four letters
for Continuing Education courses). Credit courses use three letters.
CEU/Non-Credit Courses use four letters.

How do I determine what course index number or class number to use when
I am registering through NOVAConnect?
- If you search for a course on NOVAConnect, you can just click on it to select it and do not have to worry about the index/class number.
- You can also enter the index/class number that appears in the printed Schedule of Classes
to search for a class. For example, the index number in the Schedule of
Classes for section 01A of ACC 211 at the Alexandria campus is 0599.
- Remember,
you can also search for a class on NOVAConnect Web, such as ACC 211 and
not have to worry about index/class numbers.
- If you use the telephone
to register, enter the index/class number as it appears in the
Schedule. For example, for the Alexandria section 01A of ACC 211, you
would enter 0599 on the telephone.

What should I do if I've received an invalid value error when
submitting my enrollment request?
Select
the OK button, which will return you to the enrollment page. Once
you're there, you should enter the class/index number exactly as it
appears in whatever version of the schedule of classes you're using. Please note that it's no longer necessary to include a 9 in that number.
Alternatively, you can search for the class in which you're enrolling
and select the number from the list that appears after you've input the
selection criteria. You should contact the Help Desk at 703.426.4141 or
ithelpdesk@nvcc.edu if you continue to experience difficulties.

10. Will a partial payment hold my credit classes?
Partial payments do not hold your credit classes. Check the Tuition and Fees
site for payment deadlines. Remember, you can pay by telephone or
online using a credit card. (You only have one day to pay for
non-credit classes.)
