Telecom Issues

NOVA has a modern Voice Over IP Phone (VOIP) phone system.  This means communication occurs over the NOVA network rather than Plain Old Telephone Subscription (POTS) lines.  Because of this, the IT Helpdesk is limited in its ability to remotely support the phone system.  The IT Helpdesk is able to lend some assistance with issues concerning phone menu options like call forwarding, or setting up voice mail.  The IT Helpdesk is also able to provide basic support if your phone has not acquired an IP address and the screen on the phone displays the spinning globe.  In the event the issue requires more complex problem soliving, the IT Helpdesk will have to queue your support issue to either campus IT staff or the college's central Telecom teams.  The user manual for compus phones can be found here.
